Help For Someone Else

Developing a psychologically safe work environment begins with ensuring leaders have the knowledge and skills needed to support themselves and others. Leaders are any people who can provide support when someone else is in need.

If you are worried someone you know may be in distress you can help by providing support, normalizing help seeking behaviour, and compassionately referring them to appropriate resources. Respond with empathy and by listening. It is okay to ask and express concern to a colleague. When approaching a colleague remember to do it in a safe and confidential environment

Manager Resources

If you are a manager, you can support yourself and your team. It is important to remain calm and understand when someone is experiencing a mental health crisis or mental health emergency. Acknowledging a team member’s behaviour change is an important first step in asking them if they are okay. It is okay to ask and express concern to a team member.
